Lesson in electronics and PLC

Here the students have to make a contactor work if they push a button. It shall release if the red "emergency"-button is pushed or when the blue sensor is beeing influenced.

They have to couple the wirings and program the PLC. The programming is done whith a program on a PC and then transferred to the PLC. The PLC is the white thing in the middle.

The black contactor to the right works like a electric-controlled "pushbutton". An electronic magnet will affect a contact when energized and by that way for instance start an electrical motor.

The contactor vill switch on when the PLC is sendin a signal to it. This is done by the downloaded program in the PLC. If it doesent work as it should, the student start faultfinding. It could be a fault in the couplings or in the program.

  1. Wow. this sounds very complicated. Some os our students in Australia do this kind of learning. When your students are finished their program what sort of employment will they go into?

    1. Hi
It depends on which program they are in.
In mechatronics they can for instance work in maintenance-departments or construction and development. Mostly it depends on what contacts they established when they were at their workplaces in the company and how well they performed there.
They can also go on study at universities.
